Coaching FAQ
1 \ What type of coaching do you offer?
As a life and well-being coach, my aim is to support you to overcome personal challenges, improve your well-being and maximise your life satisfaction. I draw on a number of scientifically validated coaching techniques including Cognitive-Behavioural Coaching (CBC) and Acceptance and Commitment Coaching (ACC) in my coaching practice.
2 \ What is the difference between coaching and therapy?
There are many different definitions of coaching and therapy, which can make understanding the difference between the two difficult. In my experience, the main difference is typically the starting point and initial focus of the sessions - in therapy, we usually focus on overcoming a particular emotional difficulty, such as depression or anxiety, in the first instance.
If you are looking for coaching, you might describe yourself as generally feeling "ok" or as having good mental health most of the time, but perhaps there is a particular issue that you would like help with or you have a general sense that you are existing on automatic pilot rather than living life to your full potential. This is where coaching can help to get you back on track.
If you are unsure which approach is right for you, please do get in touch or book a free initial telephone consultation to discuss this further.
3 \ How many sessions of coaching will I need?
The length of a course of coaching will vary depending on what you are looking for help with and what you want to gain from the coaching. Some people find a one-off session helpful just to give them time to think about and unpack a particular issue. Others like to sign up to a course of sessions to work through issues in more detail and to keep them on track over a period of time. Sessions can be scheduled weekly, fortnightly or monthly.
Therapy FAQ
1 \ What types of therapy do you offer?
I draw on a number of evidence-based therapeutic models, including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness-based approaches and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which have all been shown in research and clinical practice to be highly effective in treating many common difficulties, including low mood, stress, anxiety and depression.
2 \ What are your qualifications and experience?
As a Clinical Psychologist, I have been trained to work with people to overcome psychological difficulties and to improve their emotional well-being. Since qualifying, I have worked in adult mental health settings in the NHS and in the private sector, specialising in working with anxiety difficulties, low mood/depression and other common mental health problems. Over my career I have completed 15 years of supervised practice and have worked with hundreds of clients to successfully overcome their difficulties.

I have also completed further specialist training in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy and I am accredited with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
3 \ How many sessions will I need?
Following your initial assessment appointment, I will make a recommendation on the number of sessions required based on your individual circumstances. A course of therapy can last between 4 to 20 sessions, with an average of around 12 sessions.
1 \ Where do sessions take place?
Currently, I am offering sessions online via Zoom. However, if you are interested in having face-to-face sessions in Oxford, please get in touch as these may also be available depending on current COVID-19 restrictions.
